Introduction to the Sutton Trust Summer School

The Sutton Trust Summer School is a program offered by the University of Edinburgh, providing students with the opportunity to experience university life and explore various academic subjects.

What's Involved

The program takes place from 13 to 18 July 2026 and includes:

University Application Guidance

The program also provides guidance on key aspects of the university experience, including:

• UCAS application and personal statements
• Student finance

Social Programme

The social program includes an exciting variety of activities, such as:

• City tours
• Escape rooms
• An epic final night party
• Free time for relaxation or personal activities

Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for the program, students must:

• Be in S5 (Scotland), Year 12 (England and Wales), or Year 13 (Northern Ireland)
• Have always attended a state-funded school or college
• Meet certain criteria, such as:
  • Achieving at least five GCSEs at grades 9 to 6 (A* to B)
  • Having parents who have not attended university
  • Receiving free school meals or EMA
  • Attending a school or college with a below-average A-level or Higher point score
  • Living in a neighborhood with a low rate of progression to higher education

Applications for the 2026 Sutton Trust Summer School will close on 5 March 2026.

Program Details

The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive university experience, including academic and social activities. By the end of the program, students will have gained a better insight into university life and had the opportunity to make new friends and connections.
