Introduction

The Evaluation of Dissertation Buddies PGT Peer Support Programme is a project aimed at providing evidence to support the development and implementation of peer support for one-year PGT students.

Abstract

This project aims to provide evidence to support the development and implementation of peer support for one-year PGT students. The Student Support Model proposes peer support as an important element of the student experience, particularly in relation to student sense of belonging.

Objectives

• Understand the relationship between taking part in peer support programmes and key external and internal indicators of success
• Evaluate the Dissertation Buddies programme and its potential benefits for students
• Support other programmes across the University in implementing similar peer support programmes

Methodology

• Case study approach to evaluation
• Measurement of student perceptions of wellbeing and sense of community
• Participants: PGT students at MHSES taking part in Dissertation Buddies

Expected Outcomes

• Evidence to support the development and implementation of peer support programmes for one-year PGT students
• Understanding of the potential benefits of peer support programmes for students
• Recommendations for implementing similar programmes across the University
