Abstract
This project aims to provide evidence to support the development and implementation of peer support for one-year PGT students. The Student Support Model proposes peer support as an important element of the student experience, particularly in relation to student sense of belonging.
Objectives
- Understand the relationship between taking part in peer support programmes and key external and internal indicators of success
- Evaluate the Dissertation Buddies programme and its potential benefits for students
- Support other programmes across the University in implementing similar peer support programmes
Methodology
- Case study approach to evaluation
- Measurement of student perceptions of wellbeing and sense of community
- Participants: PGT students at MHSES taking part in Dissertation Buddies
Expected Outcomes
- Evidence to support the development and implementation of peer support programmes for one-year PGT students
- Understanding of the potential benefits of peer support programmes for students
- Recommendations for implementing similar programmes across the University
