Program Overview


Employ.ed on Campus (Summer) 2025/26

The Employ.ed on Campus (Summer) 2025/26 program offers 8, 10, or 12 week summer internships starting at the beginning of June 2026. These internships are only open to all 2nd to penultimate year undergraduate students.


General Information

  • Internships are available for 8, 10, or 12 weeks.
  • Interns are paid at point one of grade UE03.
  • The cost of employing a full-time intern for 10 weeks at grade UE03 ranges from £5454 (spinal point 10) to £5697 (spinal point 14), including on-costs, based on November 2025 pay scales and the NEST Pension Scheme.

Recruitment Timeline

  1. Get approval to recruit: October - January. This involves contacting the budget holder and local HR for advice on getting approval to recruit.
  2. Complete a job advert and job description: By 20th January 2026.
  3. Internships and Work Experience Team review: December - January.
  4. Input role into People and Money: Organise approvals and arrange the appointment.
  5. Deadline for recruitment approvals: February.
  6. Internships advertised and promoted to students: February and March.
  7. Shortlisting and interviews: April - May.
  8. Interns start: 8th June 2026.

Recruitment Details

  • Interns should be recruited in broadly the same way as regular employees.
  • The recruitment process should be rigorous and open to encourage fair and equal access to the opportunity for all applicants.
  • Complete the job advert and job description templates and return to the Careers Service by the end of January.

  • Read the planning your internship webpage before completing the job description.
  • Keep the job advert and job description simple and free from jargon.
  • Person specification advice:
    • List the essential and desirable knowledge, skills, and experience required for the internship.
    • Identify criteria that are truly essential.
    • Including a list of the skills a student will gain can make the internship more attractive to applicants.
  • Hours:
    • Consider being flexible with the hours required to complete the project.
    • Recommend hours from 20 35 per week.
