Undergraduate Program for Specialty in Nuclear Engineering and Technology

Program Objectives

This program aims to cultivate students with good scientific quality, humanistic accomplishment, healthy physical and mental quality. The students shall be trained to enhance abilities in the following aspects, such as nuclear engineering and technology related research and applications, practical engineering, knowledge acquisition, team operation, organization and management, innovation and international perspective. After four years of training, the graduates should be qualified as professional specialists and innovative talents in the positions related to scientific research, engineering design, technique development, operation and management in the area of nuclear engineering and technology.


Learning Outcomes

Students of this degree will acquire:


  1. The ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, engineering fundamentals and expertise to solve complex engineering problems.
  2. The ability to apply the basic principles of mathematics, natural science and engineering science to identify, express and analyze complex engineering problems through literature research, so as to derive effective conclusions.
  3. The ability to provide solutions of complex problems in the fields of nuclear engineering and technology, including the design of nuclear power systems, components and nuclear instruments, with innovations and consideration of multiple factors related to society, health, safety, regulation, culture and environment.
  4. The ability to investigate complex problems existed in the areas of nuclear engineering and technology, including the design of experiments, analysis of data, and summary of effective conclusions via comprehensive information.
  5. The ability to develop, select and utilize appropriate techniques, resources, advanced engineering and information tools to analyze complex nuclear engineering and technology problems, including prediction and simulation, with awareness of the limitations.
  6. The ability to analyze and estimate the impacts caused by the proposed solution (related to nuclear engineering and technology) in the aspects of society, health, safety, laws and culture, and to be aware of the responsibility undertaken.
  7. The ability to understand and evaluate the impacts of practical engineering (related to nuclear engineering and technology) on the sustainable development of environment and society.
  8. The ability to possess humanities and social sciences literacy, as well as social responsibility, and to understand and strictly follow professional ethics and regulations, fulfilling their responsibility.
  9. The ability to take part in any multidisciplinary team and demonstrate their abilities.
  10. The ability to communicate effectively with industry peers and the public, including the preparation of reports and designs, presentation, logistic expressions and responses, with an international attitude for worldwide, cross-cultural communications.
  11. The ability to understand and grasp the principles of engineering management and decision-make methods of economy, extending them to the applications of multidiscipline background.
  12. The ability to have the consciousness and abilities of self-learning, continuous learning, as well as adaptive improvement.
