Introduction to the Course

The Fundamentals of Wind Technology course is dedicated to the fundamentals of wind energy. This course provides an overview of the wind market, introduction to wind technology, fundamentals of wind resource, wind turbine aerodynamics and design, introduction to wind farms, large scale wind integration issues, costs, and economics.


Course Aims

The aims of this course are to:


  • Give an overview of some fundamental topics related to wind energy, like the development of the market, wind potential, aerodynamics of wind turbines, wind farms, and economics
  • Develop skills on wind potential evaluation, estimation of energy production, understanding of basic aerodynamic aspects of wind turbines, power curve of wind turbines, design of wind farms, and understanding the basic economical parameters
