Training for Leaders and Supervisors in Women's and Children's Health in Sub-Saharan Africa
The Karolinska Institutet has implemented a training program for leaders and supervisors in women's and children's health in Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative aims to improve maternal and child health care and nutrition in the region.
Program Overview
The program is designed to train key professionals in the midwifery-led interdisciplinary model of care, as well as leadership and management. The project is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Program Components
The training program consists of the following components:
- The midwifery-led interdisciplinary model of care: introduction to the woman's pathway through the health care system
- Peer learning/inter-professional training/learning activities and supervision/teamwork
- Leadership and management: identifying areas for improvement/ performance monitoring
Delivery Method
The training is delivered online, through a combination of prerecorded webinars and videos, as well as interactive live online workshops and group work.
Target Group
The target group for this program are key persons in maternal and child health and nutrition in Sub-Saharan African countries.

Program Details
The program is worth 7.5 ECTS credits. The training is designed to equip leaders and supervisors with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve maternal and child health care and nutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa.
