Mĺl

The overall goal of the course is for the student to demonstrate proficiency in applying relevant research methodology in an independent degree project. This is achieved by the student delving deeper into a chosen area and conducting a scientific study within the field of dementia with relevance to their professional role.


After completing the course, the student should be able to:


  • Identify a problem area related to dementia and motivate the choice from a patient, professional, and societal perspective.
  • Plan and conduct a scientific study based on research ethical principles and guidelines, and within given time frames.
  • Argue for the chosen design based on the research question, critically analyze and discuss study quality, and be able to analyze the results in relation to current evidence in the area.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback with the purpose of helping others and for personal development.
  • Present and communicate scientific results in writing and orally, and adapt the presentation for the current audience.

Innehĺll

The course includes:


  • Identification and delimitation of a relevant research question.
  • Research ethical considerations.
  • Collection, analysis, and compilation of data.
  • Writing of an independent scientific work.
  • Presentation and defense of the degree project.
  • Opposition on another student's work.

Arbetsformer

The course is conducted as distance education with a student-activating learning approach as a pedagogical model. The distance education is IT-based and characterized by independent and collaborative learning. The course includes individual work, group work, virtual discussions, and seminars.


Attendance at the course's practical elements is mandatory. The examiner assesses whether and how absence from compulsory educational components can be made up. Before the student has participated in the compulsory educational components or made up for absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the study results cannot be finalized.


Examination

The examination consists of the presentation and argumentation (respondentship) of an independently written degree project with relevance to the field of science, as well as the review and discussion (opponentship) of another student's degree project. The examination is assessed based on both written content and active respondentship and opponentship.


Late-submitted examination assignments are not considered. The examiner assesses whether the student has special reasons for the delay. The examiner is given the opportunity to decide on supplementation of the examination material to achieve a passing result.


The number of examination opportunities is regulated according to the agreement. The dates for the examination opportunities are provided at the start.
