Course: Verksamhetsförlagd utbildning inom strĺlbehandling, 7,5 hp

Course Description

The course Verksamhetsförlagd utbildning inom strĺlbehandling, 7,5 hp, is a part of the Specialist Nursing Programs. The course aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of working in radiation therapy and nursing. The course is designed to enable students to plan, implement, and evaluate radiation therapy independently as a specialist nurse in oncological care.

Course Objectives

The overall objective of the course is for students to deepen their knowledge of working in radiation therapy and nursing. This will enable them to work independently as specialist nurses in oncological care, planning, implementing, and evaluating radiation therapy.

Course Structure

The course is primarily conducted as workplace-based education within different units at radiation therapy clinics, along with individual studies according to the LäraNära concept. The LäraNära concept involves a series of lectures that, together with course literature, provide a basis for solving in-depth assignments. The course includes a mandatory seminar day that concludes the course.

Target Group

The course is designed for students who are part of the Specialist Nursing Programs, particularly those interested in or working towards a career in oncological nursing and radiation therapy.

Registration and Course Start

Registration for the course is obligatory to secure a place and participate. Students register themselves in Ladok. The registration period is two weeks before the course starts and one week into the course. More information about web registration is available.

Course Evaluation

The course evaluation is part of Karolinska Institutet's quality management system and is conducted according to the guidelines established by the Committee for Education at the Basic and Advanced Levels.

Canvas is the learning platform used for all courses at Karolinska Institutet. Here, students can find course materials, assignments, and communicate with teachers and fellow students. Since the course is web-based, all information and communication will take place via the Canvas platform. About one to two weeks before the course starts, students will receive an email invitation to join the course. Accepting this invitation provides access to the course materials and discussions within Canvas.
