Program Overview
Kandidatprogrammet i Nutrition
The Kandidatprogrammet i Nutrition is a university program that provides students with a comprehensive education in nutrition.
Program Overview
The program is designed to give students a broad understanding of nutrition and its applications in various fields.
Studying Abroad
Students in the Kandidatprogrammet i Nutrition have the opportunity to study abroad through various exchange programs.
Under the Independent Project, Term 6
One possibility for studying abroad is to conduct the independent project in term 6 at a university in another country. This is done at the student's own initiative, and they must find a supervisor and a project at a foreign university. The student is registered and examined as usual at the home university and presents their work at the end of the course along with other students. If the student travels to a country within the EU, they may be eligible for an Erasmus+ scholarship. Otherwise, they must cover their travel and living expenses themselves.
Taking a Break for a Year During or After Studies
Students can also take a break for a year during the program and go on exchange studies through the university-wide agreements. This can be done even after completing their studies, but it is essential that they do not take out their degree before going, even if all courses are completed. This is because some countries require a guarantee that the student will return to their home country after the exchange studies. Additionally, the student must still be enrolled to take advantage of the agreements.
Students can then credit the exchange as broadening studies. One advantage of the central exchange agreements is that students can apply for courses at all departments of the host university, as long as they meet the prerequisites. This allows students to specialize in their education and take a course that gives them a career boost, depending on the direction they choose.
Going on exchange studies through the university-wide agreements requires planning well in advance. To go abroad during the fall semester, students often need to apply a year in advance. If students have questions about these exchanges, they can contact the international coordinators.
Exchange via Institutional Agreements
Since the Kandidatprogrammet i Nutrition consists of consecutive mandatory courses throughout the education, it is challenging to go on an exchange where students can take courses abroad that match the program's courses and can be credited regarding content and the period the courses are given. Therefore, there are no agreements at the institutional level, and students are referred to the possibilities described above.
As the Kandidatprogrammet i Nutrition is part of the Chemical Section at the university, students also have the opportunity to go on exchanges through their agreements. Students should contact them if they are interested.
More information about the Chemical Section's exchange agreements can be found on their website. Note that this does not change the difficulties in crediting foreign studies towards any of the mandatory courses in the program.
