Teaching Methods
The teaching methods used provide the opportunity for students to take active responsibility for their learning. These methods include e-learning, self-study, practical exercises with presentations, interactive lectures, seminars, group discussions, and final reflections.
Examination
The course's learning objectives are examined through:
- Active participation in seminars
- Group presentation with reflective discussion
- Self-correcting web training with interactive knowledge questions
- Individual theoretical-practical examination where the student demonstrates competence in integrating theory with practical tasks, considering the nutrition care process
The examiner determines if and how absence from compulsory educational components can be made up. Before the student has participated in the compulsory educational components or made up for absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the study results cannot be finalized. Absence from a compulsory educational component may mean that the student cannot make up for the missed opportunity until the next time the course is given.
Students who are not approved after the regular examination opportunity have the right to participate in up to five additional examination opportunities. This does not apply if the course has been discontinued or undergone significant changes. If a student has completed six failed exams, no further examination opportunities are given. As an examination opportunity, the times the student has participated in the same exam are counted. Submitting a blank exam is counted as an examination opportunity.
Late-submitted examination assignments are not considered. Students who have not submitted on time are referred to the re-examination opportunity. In the event of a failed grade on a practical part, the student has the right to undergo an examination of that part once more.
The examiner assesses if a student has special reasons for delay. The examiner has the opportunity to decide on complementing the examination material to achieve a passing result. A student who lacks a passing result after three completed examination opportunities may be offered to retake parts of or the entire course once more. This applies as long as there is space available.
If there are special reasons or a need for adaptation for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the course plan's provisions regarding the form of examination, the number of examination opportunities, the possibility of complementing, or exemption from compulsory educational components, etc. The content and learning objectives, as well as the level of expected skills, knowledge, and abilities, may not be changed, removed, or lowered.
Transition Provisions
For courses that have been discontinued or undergone significant changes, at least three additional examination opportunities (in addition to the regular one) shall be provided on the previous content for a period of at least one year from the time the change occurred.
Other Provisions
- Teaching is in Swedish.
- Course evaluation according to Karolinska Institutet's guidelines, established by the Committee for Education at the basic and advanced levels.
- The course may not be credited in an examination simultaneously with a completed and approved course whose content wholly or partly coincides with the content of the course.
