Objectives
After completing the course, the participant should have knowledge of and skills in motivational enhancement therapy (MET). The participant should be able to:
- describe MET as a treatment method, including its manualized structure
- apply MET skills according to the manual with patients with alcohol abuse or dependence in an evidence-based manner
- integrate an MET approach with an MI attitude

Content
The course provides education in MET as a method and skills to apply the method according to an evidence-based manual with patients with alcohol abuse or dependence.
Forms of work
Working Methods
The course consists of lectures, including demonstrations and practical training, as well as supervision on recorded and transcribed MET conversations. Participants will also receive systematic feedback based on coding of conversations.
Examination
Examination
The participant must demonstrate an understanding of MET as a treatment method and be able to apply the MET manual in two conversations with patients assessed by the course leader. The participant must be able to receive feedback regarding their conversation skills in group supervision. For a passing grade, the participant must also be able to reflect on their learning based on systematic feedback based on coding of conversations.
