Partnership for Health in Older Adults

Course Description

The course "Partnership for Health in Older Adults" is a 7.5-credit course that focuses on the health and well-being of older adults. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement health promotion strategies for older adults.


Course Objectives

The overall objective of the course is to enable students to propose and initiate a development project aimed at improving the health and well-being of older adults. After completing the course, students should be able to:


  • Identify, plan, and initiate a development project to promote the health and well-being of older adults in an interprofessional collaboration and in interaction with relevant stakeholders.
  • Argue for the choice and implementation of the proposed development project, supported by relevant theories and from a sustainability and intercultural perspective.
  • Evaluate the significance of the proposed development project in relation to the needs of older adults for health and well-being.
  • Present and discuss the proposed development project, adapted to the relevant target group.
  • Reflect on their own and the group's development, based on collaboration with different professions and the relevant target group.

Teaching Methods

The course is partially web-based but requires active participation on the study site, with at least two course meetings on campus and supervision via the learning platform. The course is based on a problem-oriented and collaborative approach, where students are actively involved in the learning process and are given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning, with reflection and discussion as important components.


Examination

The development project is examined in the form of a written report and an oral presentation in a group, as well as an individual written reflection. Participation in compulsory moments is required for a passing grade on the course.


Special Eligibility

Special eligibility requires at least 120 higher education credits in health care or medicine. Additionally, Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English A/English 6 with a passing grade are required.
