Program Overview
Theme Intervention - Physiology 3
Course Overview
The course "Theme Intervention - Physiology 3" is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the physiological effects of physical activity on the human body. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply physiological principles to prevent and treat diseases.

M嶚
The purpose of the course is to lay the foundation for knowledge in the area of training physiology concerning the healthy human being and to apply this knowledge to prevent and treat diseases.
L酺andem嶚
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Describe and apply recommendations for physical activity for healthy individuals of different ages
- Describe the body's energy management during physical work and apply different measurement methods for energy consumption during physical activity
- Describe limiting factors for different types of work capacity and apply different types of tests for work capacity
- Describe training principles and training effects of conditioning, strength, and combination training, and apply different methods for dosing intensity
- Describe methods and sources of error when measuring body composition
- Be aware of dietary recommendations for different degrees of physical work
Inneh嶚l
The course includes the following parts:
- Physiological effects of physical activity on the body's various functions and organ systems
- Physical activity and training for children, adolescents, the elderly, women, and men, as well as pregnant women
- Energy metabolism during physical work of different intensity and duration
- Different methods for measuring energy consumption and physical activity
- Limiting factors, tests, and standardization of work capacity
- Conditioning training - physiological background, training principles, conditioning tests, and instruments for intensity
- Strength training - physiological background, muscular and neural adaptation, training principles, tests, and training recommendations
- Methods for measuring body composition - advantages and disadvantages
- The importance of nutrition during physical activity
Arbetsformer
The teaching is based on a problem-oriented and collaborative approach to learning, where the working methods provide the conditions for the student to take active responsibility for their learning. The working methods used are lectures, compulsory participation in laboratory work, group work, and seminars. Laboratory work aims to perform practical experiments under supervision based on recently reviewed theoretical sections during lectures. A laboratory manual is used as support for the implementation of the laboratory program.
Compulsory elements for a passed course are attendance at seminars, group presentations, and laboratory work. A replacement occasion for the regular laboratory occasion is offered.
The course manager assesses whether and, if so, how absence from compulsory educational components can be recovered. Before the student has participated in the compulsory educational components or recovered from absence in accordance with the course manager's instructions, the study results cannot be finalized. Absence from a compulsory educational component may mean that the student cannot recover the occasion until the next time the course is given.
Examination
The course is examined as follows:
- A written exam.
In the event of a failed result on the regular examination, the student is given the opportunity to return to a re-examination during the same term. Thereafter, the student is given the opportunity to be examined at two occasions per term, in connection with the regular and re-examination (re-examination), the following terms. A student who is not approved after the regular examination has the right to participate in a further five examination occasions. If a student has completed six failed exams/tests, no further examination occasion is given.
琌erg幩gsbest鄝melser
Examination will be provided for one year after a possible discontinuation of the course, or alternatively, at a new course plan.
琌riga F顤eskrifter
Course evaluation and course analysis are carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
