Program Overview

The program in Motiverande samtal (Motivational Interviewing, MI) is a comprehensive course designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and skills in motivational interviewing. This evidence-based method is used to help individuals change their behavior, such as reducing alcohol consumption, increasing physical activity, or following medication orders.


Course Description

The course is divided into several modules, including:

  • Motiverande samtal med yrkesm‰ssig till‰mpning - del 2, 3 hp

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of motivational interviewing and its application in various professional settings. Participants will learn how to effectively support individuals in changing their behavior, identify different types of client talk, and develop their skills in motivational interviewing.


Target Audience

The course is designed for professionals who work with clients, patients, or similar groups, such as those in primary care, schools, occupational health services, and social services. Participants are required to have prior knowledge of motivational interviewing, having completed a basic course in MI.


Course Structure

The course consists of:


  • Two digital full-day sessions with lectures, demonstrations, and practical training
  • Group supervision via Zoom, focusing on different types of client talk
  • Individual telephone supervision, focusing on the MI practitioner's behaviors and their connection to client talk

Course Schedule

The course starts on the learning platform Canvas on March 19-20, 2026. Group supervision will take place on April 15 or 16, and individual telephone supervision will take place during weeks 19 or 20.


Admission Requirements

Participants must have completed a basic course in motivational interviewing and have a profession that involves working with clients or patients.


Course Materials

Participants will have access to recorded lectures and exercises on the Canvas learning platform. Login information will be sent out approximately one week before the course starts.
