Overview
The Ophthalmology for Nurses course is designed for nurses working in ophthalmic care. The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge of ophthalmology and ophthalmological examination methods.

The course covers the structure and function of the eye and visual system, examination methods, diagnoses, and treatments. The curriculum includes:

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the course, applicants must have:
- A nursing degree (at least 120 credits, including a degree in nursing)
- Employment in ophthalmic care
Course Format
The course is full-time and includes:
- 8 physical meetings with lectures, method exercises, patient receptions, workshops, and seminars
- Theoretical parts are conveyed through the learning platform Canvas
- Workplace-based education (VFU, workplace-based education) is arranged by the participant themselves and accounts for about half of the course
Assessment
The course is assessed through:
- Participation in VFU
- Submission of assignments
- Evaluation of the participant's ability to meet the course objectives
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee for the course is SEK 110,000 (excluding VAT).
Credits
The course is worth 60 credits.
Language
The course is taught in Swedish.
Duration
The course is planned for the fall of 2026.
Maximum Number of Participants
The maximum number of participants is 25.
Additional Information
After completing the course, participants may be eligible to apply for a master's degree in optometry.
