Program Overview
The Stepping Stone program, specifically "Pedagogiska grunder f顤 handledning i VFU" (Pedagogical Foundations for Supervision in Clinical Education), is designed to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of supervision in clinical education through a reflective and academic approach to learning.

- The relationship between learning objectives, learning activities, and examinations
- Pedagogical development proposals
- Interprofessional discussions
Program Objectives
Upon completing the program, participants should be able to:
- Identify and describe the conditions for student learning in clinical education within their own practice.
- Analyze and reflect on the meaning of supervision and how guiding and support documents facilitate student learning in clinical education.
- Propose developments that benefit student learning in clinical education within their own practice.
Program Structure
The program is conducted online via Zoom, with instructions and tasks available on the Canvas learning platform. Active participation during all program moments is expected, based on the pedagogical foundation that emphasizes participant engagement.
The program is structured into the following steps:
- Preparatory assignment
- Introductory educational session with presentations and group discussions
- Independent work with a written examination assignment
- Final educational session including oral presentation and interprofessional reflection on the written examination assignment
Program Scope and Duration
The program corresponds to one week of university studies (40 hours).
Target Group and Eligibility
The program is aimed at individuals with a university education who have supervision or other pedagogical responsibilities in clinically integrated learning (CIL) or clinical education (CE) within health and medical care education in Stockholm County.
Program Requirements
- The program is given online.
- The language of instruction is Swedish.
Program Schedule
The program starts on a specified date, with the first session on April 14 and the second on May 19, both via Zoom.
Examination and Course Certificate
To pass the program, participants must:
- Actively participate in all educational sessions.
- Actively participate in the seminar on the examination assignment.
- Complete a written examination assignment.
The program is examined through both oral and written assignments. Results from the examination assignment are published in Canvas. Participants are responsible for informing themselves about the results and any revisions. Course certificates are issued by the course responsible after successful completion of the program.
Merit and Further Education
The Stepping Stone courses are merit-worthy when applying for a docenture. If participants need university credits for other reasons, such as counting pedagogical education towards a master's degree, they can apply for credit transfer.
For those with a bachelor's degree, it's possible to apply for credit transfer for the "H鐷skolepedagogik f顤 l酺are och handledare i verksamhetsf顤lagd utbildning" (University Pedagogy for Teachers and Supervisors in Clinical Education) course after completing five Stepping Stone courses.
