Avancerad fysiologisk kärldiagnostik (Advanced Physiologic Vascular Diagnostics)

Course Overview

The course provides advanced knowledge in vascular diagnostics, focusing on ultrasonography and its application in various vascular diseases.

Course Description

The course covers different techniques in vascular diagnostics, with an emphasis on ultrasonography and its connection to various pathophysiologies and patient cases. The course also discusses other methodologies, such as MR and CT.

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of vascular diagnostics on an advanced level. Upon completion, students are expected to:

• Explain how hemodynamics in different vascular sections are affected by pathophysiological changes
• Describe diagnostic criteria for common hemodynamically significant changes in different vascular beds
• Analyze and compare different techniques, such as ultrasonography, MR, and CT, and discuss when and how they should be applied
• Analyze and interpret results from various ultrasonography examinations containing different vascular diseases

Course Content

The course includes lectures, self-study, assignments, group work, and seminars with clinical cases. Students will also receive in-depth knowledge of methodologies through an evidence-based approach, reviewing guidelines in relation to method descriptions and clinical practices.

Examination

Students are examined through written assignments and oral presentations. Students who do not pass the regular examination have the right to participate in up to five additional examination opportunities.

Special Eligibility

A minimum of 120 credits is required, including a biomedical analyst degree with a focus on clinical physiology or a nursing degree. Alternatively, 120 credits from the medical program. Additionally, Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English A/English 6 with a minimum grade of pass/E are required.
