Central Student Exchange Program

The University of Hamburg offers an interdisciplinary exchange program with partner universities in various countries, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the USA. The program allows students to study abroad for one or two semesters, with waived tuition fees at the partner university and possible additional benefits such as a guaranteed place in a dorm room or a partial scholarship.


Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for the Central Student Exchange Program, students must be enrolled at the University of Hamburg with the objective of earning a degree. Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic performance. There are two application rounds each year, one in May and one in November, with different partner universities available in each round.


Application Deadlines

  • November application round: 1-30 November for winter semester (or fall, session 2) or summer semester (or spring, session 1) of the following year.
  • May application round: 1-31 May for summer semester (or spring, session 1) or winter semester (or fall, session 2) of the following year.

Target Regions

  • November application round: China, India, Indonesia, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, United Kingdom.
  • May application round: Australia, Brazil, Chile, Japan, South Africa.
