Qualification Goals

The qualification goals of the module are:


  • Students reflect on their teaching and learning experiences, can explain them and relate them to their studies.
  • Students know and understand selected theories, models, concepts and terms from university and media didactics and can organize and compare them.
  • Students apply knowledge of theories, models, concepts and terms of university and media didactics to their own professional context, describe their results and share them discursively with others.
  • Students know the most important sub-disciplines of university and media didactics as well as their current research fields and approaches.

Contents

The module covers the following topics:


  • Didactics as practice: own teaching and learning experiences; self-reflection and explication of background knowledge; Current topics on teaching, learning and education as well as digitization and digitality at universities
  • Didactics as a science: history of media and university didactics; Theories, models, concepts and terms in media and university didactics
  • Didactics as a research field: University and media didactics at the intersection of teaching-learning research, university research, media education research and scientific research

Teaching and Learning Forms and Examination

The module consists of:


  • an introductory week with several synchronous dates in which, in addition to the students, all teachers of the course take part,
  • a blocked online event on university didactics (approx. 4 weeks) and
  • a blocked online event on media didactics (approx. 4 weeks) with synchronous and asynchronous parts as well as different task types.
  • The (ungraded) essay (coursework) must be completed by the end of the semester. The FSB regulates further details on the test; Current information will be provided at the start of the module.
