Mathematical Preliminary Course

The Department of Physics offers a mathematical preliminary course for first-semester students. The course takes place before the start of the semester and is designed to review the mathematics of the upper school in preparation for physics lectures. The course covers topics such as functions, differential and integral calculus, complex numbers, and vector calculus.

Course Details

• The course is held in March for the summer semester and in September/October for the winter semester.
• The course consists of lectures and guided exercise groups.
• No registration is required for the course.
• The lectures take place from 9:00 to 10:30 am, Monday to Friday, in the Wolfgang-Pauli-Lecture Hall.
• The exercise groups are supervised by student tutors.
• The course is designed for first-semester students of the Bachelor's programs in Physics, Nanosciences, Meteorology, Geophysics/Oceanography, and teacher training programs with Physics as the subject.
