Program Overview
Master Program in European and European Legal Studies
The University of Hamburg, in cooperation with the Europa-Kolleg, offers a master's program in European and European Legal Studies. This interdisciplinary program provides graduates of various disciplines with the opportunity to understand the European integration process in its legal, political, and economic dimensions.
Program Overview
- The program is offered by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg.
- It is a one-year master's program, starting in September each year.
- The program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the European integration process, enabling them to pursue successful careers in international institutions, think tanks, companies, or law firms.
Program Structure
- The program begins with three foundational modules that cover the essential legal, economic, and political aspects of European integration.
- These are followed by in-depth modules, where students can choose from two areas of focus, each consisting of five modules.
- The teaching language is English.
Admission Requirements
- A university degree with above-average results, preferably in law, economics, or political science (Bachelor's degree with 240 ECTS credits or equivalent).
- Proof of sufficient English language skills: TOEFL with a total score of at least 90 (iBT), IELTS with a total score of at least 6.5, or Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) or Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) with a grade of C in all sections.
- A letter of recommendation from a person supporting the application.
Tuition Fees
- The tuition fee for the program is 8,500 Euros, plus the semester contribution to the University of Hamburg.
Degree Awarded
- Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.), depending on their background and the focus of their studies.
