Online Tandem
The Linguistic-Cultural Bridge for Students on the Move
The Online Tandem project is designed for students participating in the University of Padova's exchange programs: incoming and outgoing. The project's goal is to connect students before their arrival at the host university.
Objectives
The Online Tandem project connects students from different universities before their departure for their mobility period, allowing them to help each other practice their respective languages. The tandem learning aims to:
- Improve linguistic skills in the language spoken in the host country
- Give participants the opportunity to learn about the culture and academic context of the host country
Participants
- Students of the University of Padua who are Erasmus scholarship winners (outgoing mobility)
- Incoming mobility students at the University of Padua
- The entire Unipd community
Duration and Meeting Modalities
The project has a duration of approximately 8 weeks, and meetings are organized autonomously by each pair of students. The CLA supports students in choosing possible topics to discuss during meetings by providing suggestions through the platform used for project registration (Matorix).
Registration
To register, students must sign up on the dedicated platform. After registration, users will receive an automatic email with instructions to complete the registration and must fill in all necessary data to be matched with a Tandem partner. Once matched, users will receive a notification via email and can then contact each other autonomously to plan meetings. It may take a few weeks for the matching process to be completed. It is not always possible to guarantee a Tandem partner for all those who request one, as it depends on the number of students participating in the initiative. Those who are not matched can register again the following semester.
