Program Overview
Communicating and Teaching in English Course
The Communicating and Teaching in English course is organized by the CLA as part of the aCLAim project. The course aims to prepare teachers for teaching in English.
Objectives and Program
The course has two main objectives:
- To help participants develop linguistic and communicative skills for teaching in English.
- To provide tools for exploring and experimenting with different teaching approaches.
The course will cover topics such as:
- Academic vocabulary
- Linguistic skills for classroom organization
- Informal interaction inside and outside the classroom
- Different methodological approaches and teaching activities
- Student assessment
- Pronunciation and intonation
Structure and Attendance Certificate
- Maximum number of participants: 20
- Minimum number of participants: 10
- Duration: 30 academic hours (1 academic hour = 45 minutes)
- Language level: A profitable participation in the course requires a knowledge of the English language at least equal to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Frequency
- Intensive courses: daily lessons of 3 or 6 academic hours (45 minutes) until the 30 academic hours are completed (one or two weeks).
- Semi-intensive courses: daily lessons of 3 hours for two days a week (5 weeks)
Constant attendance is required. At the end of the course, an attendance certificate will be issued to those who have attended at least 70% of the hours and completed the final activity.
Editions
The course will be offered in the following editions:
- November/December 2025 (1 semi-intensive course)
- January 2026 (1 intensive course)
- February 2026 (1 intensive course)
- July 2026 (2 intensive courses)
- September 2026 (1 intensive course)
Admission Criteria
The course is primarily aimed at structured teachers who are or will be holders of English-language courses. Access will follow a "first come, first served" logic. In case of excess enrollment, priority will be given to structured teaching staff who have an urgent need to satisfy the linguistic requirement for teaching in English and have not participated in previous editions of the course.
Alternative to the Course
As an alternative to the course, it is possible to take the TAL C1 test on one of the dates made available by the CLA. The attendance of the course (at least 70% of the lessons and completion of the final task) is considered by the University as valid for satisfying the linguistic requirement for teaching in English.
