Introduction to the Turfgrass Management Program
The Turfgrass Management Program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of turfgrass diseases, management, and maintenance. This program includes a series of component courses that cover various aspects of turfgrass management.

- Pesticide Applicator Education and Safety
- Irrigation and Drainage
- Cool-Season Turfgrass Diseases and Suppression Using Fungicides
- Turfgrass Mathematics
- Turfgrass Insects and Weed Management
Course Details: Cool-Season Turfgrass Diseases and Suppression Using Fungicides
This course introduces students to turfgrass diseases found on home lawns and sports fields, and shows them how to suppress these diseases using fungicides. Students will learn to identify common turfgrass diseases, understand how environmental conditions affect disease expression, and develop a plan for mitigating turfgrass diseases.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify common turfgrass diseases
- Understand how the environment affects disease expression
- Understand how fungicides suppress turfgrass diseases
- Develop a plan for mitigating turfgrass diseases
- Understand Integrated Pest Management and its role in reducing the risk of fungicide resistance
