Program Overview

The Oregon Coaching Pathways: Foundations of Coaching course is a self-paced, professional development program designed to provide a fundamental understanding of the six Oregon coach competencies.

What is Foundations of Coaching?

The course supports a practice-based coaching approach, grounded in empirical methods. Through interactive exercises, videos, illustrations, knowledge checks, and reflection tools, participants will learn about Oregon coach competencies and coaching practices. A workbook is provided to maximize program outcomes.

    • Using strategies to build collaborative partnerships
    • Applying adult learning principles
    • Using data to set coaching goals
    • Observing, providing feedback, and facilitating intentional reflection on best practices
    • Enhancing coaching quality: using approaches that are appropriate, inclusive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and linguistically accessible
  • Complete a self-assessment of Oregon coach competencies and analyze their strengths and areas for growth
