Program Overview


MECOP Program Overview

The Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) is a prestigious, paid internship program sponsored by Oregon industries. It offers undergraduate business students the opportunity to complete two six-month internships at different MECOP companies, located throughout Oregon.


Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible for the MECOP program, students must:


  • Be undergraduate business students majoring in accountancy, business information systems, marketing, management, supply chain and logistics management, or business analytics.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 with no grade below C-.
  • Have completed 90 credits by the end of the spring term of their sophomore year.
  • Successfully complete specific coursework prior to entering their first internship.

Coursework Requirements

The required coursework varies by major:


  • ACTG: ACTG 317, ACTG 318, ACTG 319 before the first internship.
  • BIS: BIS 272, BA 370, BIS 371, BIS 372 before the first internship.
  • MRKT: BA 223 or BA 390, MRKT 396 before the first internship; MRKT 489, MRKT 492, BA 375 before the second internship.
  • MGMT: BA 252 or BA 352, MGMT 364 before the first internship; two of (MGMT 452, MGMT 453, MGMT 455, MGMT 457) before the second internship.
  • SCLM: BA 252 or BA 352, BA 275, BA 270, BA 357, BA 375, SCLM 350, SCLM 450, SCLM 451 before the first internship; SCLM 452, SCLM 453, SCLM 457, SCLM 459 before the second internship.
  • BANA: BA 252/352, BA 275, BA 270, BA 370, BA 375, BANA 270, BANA 371, BANA 372, BANA 472.

MECOP Process

The MECOP process involves several steps:


  1. Application: Submit an application prior to the deadline.
  2. Selection: Participate in a selection interview with MECOP representatives.
  3. Placement: Participate in a placement interview with MECOP company representatives.
  4. Junior-Year Internship: Complete the first six-month internship in the summer/fall term of the junior year.
  5. Return to Campus/Senior Year: Participate in a second placement interview and complete the second six-month internship in the summer/fall term of the senior year.

Credit for MECOP Internship

Students can register for and receive credit for their MECOP internship. BA 410 internship credit can be used as elective credits, and BA 004 is a no-cost, zero-credit, transcript-visible internship course.


Enrollment and Credit Claim

To enroll and claim internship credits, students must:


  • Request an Experience in Handshake to register and get credit for the internship.
  • Complete the required coursework and internship hours.
  • Receive a satisfactory evaluation from the MECOP employer.
