The College of Forestry offers a unique program, "Oil Palms and Orangutans: Forest Conservation In Malaysian Borneo." This program provides students with the opportunity to explore forest conservation in Malaysian Borneo.
Costs & Funding
Estimated Costs
The estimated costs for the program are as follows:
- $4,000 - Program Fee (covers 6 credits tuition, lodging, transportation in Borneo, group meals during program, and all entrance fees)
- $275 - OSU GO Faculty-Led Program Fee
- $150 - COF Admin Fee
- $60 - Mandatory OSU Accident & Sickness Insurance
- $50 - OSU Health Consult
Estimated Personal Expenses
- $2,000 - International Airfare
- $100 - Miscellaneous: recreation, personal expenses (phone/internet charges, toiletries, etc.)
- $200 - Immunizations (varies per person and based on insurance)
- $6,650 - Total Estimated Program Cost (includes tuition credits)
Passport Information
If you do not have a valid passport, it is suggested that you apply for your passport now. Both first-time applicants and passport renewals can be subject to extensive delays. USA adult passports are valid for 10 years, so it is worth applying now, even if you see yourself traveling in the future.

The College of Forestry has scholarship funds to support students. Please look over the Dean's Investment Fund Awards for International Engagement and apply for funding through the Dean's Awards for this program.
