Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Option
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Option is offered within the Counseling Graduate Major (MCoun, PhD) at the College of Education, Oregon State University. This option is available only at OSU-Cascades and via Ecampus.
Overview
The Master of Counseling (MCoun) degree with a Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) option is designed for individuals who want to work in community agencies, treatment programs, community colleges, and other counseling centers.
Requirements
The program requires the following courses:
- COUN 515: COUNSELING INTERNSHIP (Minimum of 15 credits taken in clinical mental health settings over multiple quarters)
- COUN 536: APPLIED PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY FOR COUNSELORS
- COUN 550: FOUNDATIONS OF MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
- COUN 579: TRAUMA-INFORMED COUNSELING
- or COUN 595: GROUP COUNSELING II
- COUN 597: INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELOR SUPERVISION
Elective Courses
Students must select 9 credits from the following elective courses:
- COUN 506: PROJECTS
- COUN 515: COUNSELING INTERNSHIP
- COUN 520: PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE IN CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
