Introduction to the Zertifikatsprogramm

The Zertifikatsprogramm is a certificate program offered by the Freie Universit‰t Berlin, designed to enhance academic teaching skills. The program is structured into several modules, which are described in detail below.

Program Structure

The program consists of the following modules:

• Grundlagenmodul (Foundation Module): a 5-day module that covers the basics of academic teaching
• Portfolioworkshop (Portfolio Workshop): a workshop where participants work on their teaching portfolio
• Transferworkshop (Transfer Workshop): a workshop that focuses on the transfer of knowledge into practice
• Aufbaumodul (Advanced Module): a module that consists of 6 days of workshops, which can be chosen from a range of topics
• Lehrprojekt (Teaching Project): a semester-long project where participants work on a teaching project in small groups

Program Details

The program is designed to be completed in 3-5 semesters. It is recommended that participants complete the modules in at least three consecutive semesters to allow for the consolidation of knowledge and the development of habitual behavior.

Module 1: Grundlagen

This module covers the basics of academic teaching, including methods of teaching and learning, and collegial consultation.

Module 2: Portfolio und Transfer

In this module, participants work on their teaching portfolio and attend a portfolio workshop. They also attend a transfer workshop, which focuses on the transfer of knowledge into practice.

Module 3: Aufbau

This module consists of 6 days of workshops, which can be chosen from a range of topics. Participants can also earn credits for didactic training courses offered by the university.

Module 4: Lehrprojekt

In this module, participants work on a teaching project in small groups over the course of a semester.

Additional Information

The program is free of charge for members of the Freie Universit‰t Berlin. Participants are required to have their own teaching practice, as they will be working on their teaching projects and portfolios throughout the program.

The Zertifikatsprogramm is offered in partnership with the Center f¸r Digitale Systeme (CeDiS), the Berliner Zentrum f¸r Hochschullehre (BZHL), the Weiterbildungszentrum, and the Dahlem Research School (DRS).
