Associate in Arts Degree (AA)
The Associate in Arts Degree (AA) is a program offered by Florida State University. To be eligible for this degree, students must complete all the requirements listed below by the end of the term of application.
Eligibility Requirements for Students who Entered FSU Summer 2015 and Thereafter
- All Statewide Core Courses with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
- All FSU General Education Requirements with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
- All General Education English Composition and Quantitative/Logical Thinking courses must be completed with a minimum grade of "C-"
- Two state-mandated writing courses with a minimum grade of "C-" (this is in addition to the two required English Composition courses. One or more IFS courses may be taken toward meeting this requirement).
- A minimum of a 2.00 overall GPA and FSU GPA
- At least 60 credit hours toward graduation
- 20 of the last 30 credit hours completed at FSU
Eligibility Requirements for Students who Entered FSU before Summer 2015
- All Liberal Studies courses with a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA
- All Gordon Rule (Writing) requirements with a minimum grade of "C-"
- A minimum of a 2.00 overall GPA and FSU GPA
- At least 60 credit hours toward graduation
- 20 of the last 30 credit hours completed at FSU
Application Process
Eligible students desiring the degree must complete a formal application and submit it to the Office of Undergraduate Studies. At the end of the term, Undergraduate Studies will certify eligible students for the Associate of Arts Degree and notify the Graduation Section of the Registrar's Office, who will mail the degree to the student.
Program Details
The Associate in Arts Degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the liberal arts and sciences. The program requires students to complete a minimum of 60 credit hours, including all Statewide Core Courses, FSU General Education Requirements, and other specified courses. Students must also maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 overall and at FSU. The program is available to students who entered FSU Summer 2015 and thereafter, as well as those who entered before Summer 2015, with slightly different requirements for each group.
