Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI)

The Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) at Florida State University's College of Business is a fully online degree program that equips professionals to shape an industry that evolves with the world around it. Admission Guidelines

Admission to the Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance program is highly competitive. The decision is based on a portfolio of qualifications, including prior academic experience, work experience, optional entrance exam scores (such as GMAT or GRE), and letters of recommendation. Entrance exam scores are optional for this program and can be submitted if they will enhance an application.


Application Process

  • An up-to-date resume, clearly indicating work experience including dates and positions held, as well as noting full-time or part-time employment
  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation are required
  • Florida Residency Declaration if applicable
  • Nonrefundable application fee

Program Costs

All students pay the same market rate of $600.00 per credit hour regardless of residence. In addition, students will be responsible for applicable fees per credit hour. The total program cost for 33 credit hours is $20,795.94 for Florida residents and $21,787.92 for non-Florida residents.


Funding Resources

There are a variety of funding options, including student loans and scholarships available through the College of Business, the RMI program, and outside resources. All newly admitted students are considered for available scholarships.


Curriculum and Schedule

The MS-RMI program consists of 33 credit hours. Students may select a specialization with a focus in either the Healthcare track or Property/Casualty (P&C) track. The program includes core courses and additional courses required for each track.

Licenses

For insurance professionals working in the state of Florida, licensing is managed by the Florida Department of Financial Services. Completion of the risk management/insurance undergraduate or graduate program meets the educational requirements to receive several licenses without sitting for the licensing exams.
