Education
The Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences offers various programs in the field of health sciences.
Biomedical & Health Informatics
The Biomedical & Health Informatics program offers the following degrees:
- MS in Biomedical & Health Informatics
- PhD in Biomedical & Health Informatics
- Certificate in Health Informatics
Certificate in Health Informatics
The Certificate in Health Informatics is a 12-credit program that can be completed in as little as two semesters. The program has rolling admissions, and students may start in the fall, spring, or summer.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the Certificate in Health Informatics program, applicants must submit the following:
- Online application
- Transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
- Resume/CV
- Statement of purpose
Performance Standards
To successfully complete the Certificate Program, students must:
- Earn a grade of B or higher in each core course
- Earn a grade of C or higher in every elective graded course
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.00
- Complete a minimum of 12 credits
Program Length
Students have three calendar years to complete the requirements. Most students complete the program within four semesters of acceptance.
Transcript Documentation
The Graduate Certificate in Biomedical & Health Informatics is issued through the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. This graduate certificate will not appear on any CWRU transcripts. However, students can opt for a 15-credit hour certificate, which is issued through the School of Graduate Studies and will appear on CWRU transcripts.
Documenting Progress
To ensure students are progressing in the program, the administrative director of Non-Clinical Graduate Education will check in with students and department leadership at the end of each semester.
Exit Standards
Students who complete all required coursework will submit a checklist to the administrative director of Non-Clinical Graduate Education. The academic program director will approve the awarding of the certificate in writing, and the program director will issue a certificate to the enrollee documenting completion of the program.
