Program Overview
Introduction to the Master of Public Health Program
The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Case Western Reserve University provides a solid grounding in assessing the needs, strengths, and resources of diverse communities and populations, as well as the skills essential in meeting contemporary challenges. The program takes a broad view of health and wellness, drawing from experts in genetic epidemiology, health policy, prevention research, and systems-based environmental health, among others.
Program Description
The MPH program offers a range of courses in quantitative sciences to support analysis and demonstrate outcomes. Students will benefit from the university's robust network of community partners for internships or research opportunities, including world-renowned health systems, departments of public health, and local health centers, as well as health collaborations abroad.
Admission Criteria
Applicants must hold a BA or BS degree by the date the program of study begins. The program does not qualify as a STEM program.

Application Requirements
- Personal Statement: Discuss motivation for obtaining an MPH degree (1 page in length)
- Reflection Essay: Describe how personal or academic background and experiences have prepared you for graduate, professional training in public health (1-2 pages in length)
- Recommendations: 3 evaluators total, sent electronically through the application portal (one recommendation must be from an academic institution/instructor)
- Unofficial transcripts: Upload into the application to expedite review
- Official transcripts: Required by Case Western Reserve University School of Graduate Studies upon matriculation
- GRE general exam: Not required, but optional scores may be sent to institution code 4785
International Applicants
- TOEFL or IELTS: Required, with scores sent to school code 5688 for SOPHAS
- Acceptable scores: TOEFL 90 or higher, IELTS 7.0 or higher
- Language test requirement: Waived if applicant has completed a bachelor's or master's degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction
- WES Evaluation: Required for transcripts from institutions outside the United States that do not utilize the 4.0 GPA/grading scale
