Program Overview


Clinical Oncology Research Career Development Program

The Clinical Oncology Research Career Development Program is a comprehensive training program designed for physicians who have completed specialty clinical training and are board-eligible in a cancer-related specialty.


Eligibility Requirements

  • All candidates must be physicians holding MD, DO, or MD/PhD degrees.
  • Candidates must have completed specialty clinical training and be board-eligible in a cancer-related specialty.
  • Candidates must have a commitment for a faculty appointment at a hospital partner of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
  • Candidates must have a clinical training background in one of the following oncology disciplines: medical, surgical, gynecological, dermatological, pediatric, or radiation oncology.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain NIH funding and have an interest and training in clinical trials and/or laboratory-based research with intent to focus on translational research leading to a clinical trial.
  • Candidates must be willing to participate in didactic training in clinical and translational research and to publish and author clinical trials.
  • A minimum of a 2-year commitment is required.

The application deadline is May 22, 2022. Applications from women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged.


Application Requirements

  • A recent Curriculum Vitae including previous research experience, both didactic and practical.
  • A personal statement describing the reason for seeking research training in clinical investigation, specific research interests, and career plans (3 pages maximum).
  • A hypothesis-driven research plan with specific aims (3-5 pages).
  • At least 3 letters of recommendation, including one either from the residency training director or doctoral committee chairperson/advisor.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
