Introduction to the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program
The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Case Western Reserve University is a signature program at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. This program combines research, theory, and hands-on practice to help students tackle today's complex social challenges and emerge as change leaders in the field.
On-Campus MSW Program Overview
The on-campus MSW program requires 39-60 credits and can be completed in 12-20 months. The program offers full-time and part-time options to accommodate different student needs.
Advanced Standing
Applicants who hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) are automatically considered for advanced standing status. The advanced standing option allows on-campus students to earn their MSW in as little as one year.
On-Campus MSW Paths of Study

Field Education
Field education provides a supportive, supervised opportunity for students to apply classroom knowledge to professional social work practice. During the MSW program, students will complete 500 field education hours if they are advanced standing students, or 900 hours if they are traditional students.
