Introduction to the Master of Science in Anesthesia Program
The Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) program was established in 1970 to address the emerging need for highly qualified, mid-level anesthesia providers. Over the past 50+ years, the MSA program has trained over 1,000 of the nation's top certified anesthesiologist assistants (CAAs).
Program Overview
The MSA program is committed to ensuring all students have pathways to success. The program is actively fundraising to support the academic, financial, and mental well-being of students through the MSA Student Assistance Fund.
MSA Student Assistance Fund
The MSA Student Assistance Fund provides:
- New merit-based awards and scholarships for MSA students to showcase their knowledge and skills
- Emergency financial support to students, without which their tenure in the program could be at risk
- Health and wellness initiatives, such as wellness days, access to online mental health resources, and regular guest speakers
Awards and Scholarships
The program maintains the Helmut Cascorbi Valedictorian Award, which awards $1,000 annually to the top graduating student (by GPA) at each program location. Additionally, the MSA DC Alumni Achievement Award offers $500 annually to an exemplary rising second-year student at the Washington, DC program location based on their didactic performance or improvement, clinical performance or improvement, leadership, philanthropy outreach, perseverance, and professionalism.

The Master of Science in Anesthesia Program is a part of Case Western Reserve University, a 501(c)3 non-profit institution. All donations to MSA students through official channels are 100% tax-deductible.
