Academics
Coursework
The program requires a minimum of 26 hours of physiology courses, which is often more than the number required at the professional school level. The core curriculum is taught by faculty from the CWRU School of Medicine.
Textbook
The required textbook for the Medical Physiology and Translational Physiology courses is Boron and Boulpaep's Medical Physiology (Third Edition).
Computer and Internet Requirements
All students need a laptop computer with a web camera and microphone for video conferencing and remote learning. Online students must also have access to a stable Internet connection.
Research and Clinical Experiences
Opportunities
Many students become involved in basic and clinical research projects, including:
- Observing or volunteering in a lab or clinic
- Securing employment as a research assistant or clinical research coordinator
- Taking research courses
- Conducting original research in a faculty's laboratory and writing and defending a thesis
Clinical Experiences
CWRU has a large medical complex, with affiliations with four hospitals. Students can attend weekly Grand Rounds, shadow faculty, and observe procedures.
Successes
Professional School Acceptance
