MS in Medical Physiology (Post-Baccalaureate)
Program Overview
Introduction to the MS in Medical Physiology Program
The MS in Medical Physiology program is designed for students with an earned bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences. The program is available to students with a strong foundation in biology and English, and additional coursework in anatomy and physiology is recommended.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the MS in Medical Physiology program, applicants must submit the following:
- At least two letters of recommendation
- Unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended, including post-secondary and transfer credits
- A personal statement addressing career goals, reasons for pursuing the program, and any challenges in their academic career
Prerequisites
Admission to the MS in Medical Physiology program requires:
- An earned bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences
- One year of biology and English
- Coursework in anatomy and physiology is recommended
- A preferred bachelor's degree with a final GPA > 3.0 in fields such as:
- Allied Health Sciences (e.g., nursing, respiratory therapy, physical therapy)
- Exercise or sports physiology
- Biology with additional coursework in human anatomy and physiology
- An undergraduate degree with additional formal coursework in human anatomy, human physiology, biochemistry, and physics
International Students

Program Format
The program is available in both in-person and online formats. The online option allows students to take classes 100% online, with the exception of the residency requirement for PHOL 423. Most students in the Medical Physiology program have opted to complete their program online. The decision to offer in-person classes is made by June 1st of the current academic year for the incoming fall semester.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition and fees are set by the university. The department generates a Memo of Assistance (MOA) for all incoming students, which is sent to the Office of Financial Aid to generate a financial aid package. All financial aid is handled through the university's Office of Financial Aid.
Evaluation Criteria
Each applicant is evaluated holistically on the merits of their total application, including:
- Undergraduate, post-bacc, and/or graduate GPAs
- Breadth and depth of science coursework
- Letters of recommendation
- Resume/CV
- Personal statement describing their interest in the program and career goals
Class Size
The class size varies every year.
