Diploma in Languages
The Diploma in Languages is designed to enhance your degree with language studies, providing you with the tools to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world. This course is only available to domestic students.
Course Description
The UTS Diploma in Languages allows you to acquire competency in a language other than English, opening up a wide range of opportunities. You can choose from Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, or Spanish, and build fluency and cultural awareness alongside studies that enhance your ability to navigate intercultural communication.
Course Structure
- The course can be completed as a standalone qualification or alongside another UTS undergraduate or postgraduate course.
- It is part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
- The course combines practical language use with the study of the target culture, ensuring you are well-prepared for the global or globally-focused workplace.

Classes are held at the City Campus or specialist off-campus locations, with some courses delivered via online (distance) learning.
What You'll Study

Admissions Information
Admission Requirements
Applicants must satisfy one of the following criteria:
- For current school leavers:
- Concurrent enrolment in a UTS recognised bachelor's degree or above in any Australian institution.
- An ATAR of 80+; or
- The student has studied the nominated language at HSC or IB level.
- For non-current school leavers:
- Completion of a UTS recognised bachelor's degree or above in an Australian institution (or equivalent).
- Concurrent enrolment in a bachelor-level degree at an Australian institution.
- A WAM (based on a minimum of 12 credit points) of 65; or
- An ATAR of 80+; or
- Previous study of the nominated language major at HSC or IB level.
