Master of Architecture

The Master of Architecture is a postgraduate program designed for graduates aiming to become practicing architects, building on foundational knowledge from a Bachelor of Design in Architecture or equivalent. This program offers a flexible structure that empowers students to tailor their specialization to their career aspirations. Its distinctiveness lies in the integration of critical architectural design with practical research, preparing students for the dynamic nature of architectural practice.


Overview

This course is designed for graduates aiming to become practicing architects, building on foundational knowledge from a Bachelor of Design in Architecture or equivalent. Students will gain critical analysis, strategic leadership, and effective communication skills. Additionally, they will develop research abilities to creatively inform their design process and learn to craft persuasive architectural proposals. The course also emphasizes ethical, environmental, cultural, aesthetic, and technological considerations in architecture.


Notes

There are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available in this course, which are competitive and awarded based on merit. To be considered for a CSP, applicants must apply on time in line with CSP deadlines and accept their offer by the lapse date to retain their place.

Professional Recognition

The Master of Architecture is a qualification accepted for candidates seeking to take the professional examination of the NSW Architects Registration Board and Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), as a prerequisite for registration under the provision of the Architects Act administered by the NSW Architects Registration Board, and to professional membership of the institute.

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

  4. Generate inspirational and integrated architectural solutions by creatively employing disciplinary knowledge and relevant architectural advancements across technologies and materials.
  5. Commit to ongoing personal development and engage in process methods that engage with emergent architectural practices and knowledge that challenge disciplinary conventions.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of Indigenous knowledges, respecting First Nations perspectives and an ongoing care for Country.

Structure

This course comprises 96 credit points, made up of 72 credit points of core architectural practice subjects and 24 credit points of architectural electives.
