What You Will Study

The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Public Health comprises four online subjects (24 credit points in total). Upon successful completion, students have the opportunity to enroll in the Graduate Diploma in Public Health and onto the Master of Public Health.


Core Subjects

Students must complete all of the following subjects:


  • Foundations in Public Health + Indigenous Public Health
  • Social Perspectives in Public Health
  • Fundamentals of Epidemiology
  • Plus 6 credit points from the Master of Public Health core or other elective subjects.

Flexible Course Options

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health is made up of 4 subjects (24 credit points in total). Students who complete the Graduate Certificate in Public Health may qualify to advance to the Graduate Diploma in Public Health and onto the Master of Public Health. UTS Online also provides alternative Graduate Certificate specialization pathways, offering the opportunity to study a Graduate Certificate in Public Health and Communicable Disease or a Graduate Certificate in Health Analytics.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognized bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. Applicants must also have a Statement of Service on an official letterhead from their workplace's human resource department (or equivalent) confirming the dates of employment and the position held within the organization.


English Language Requirements

English language requirements apply to both international and domestic students. The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper-based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet-based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.


Recognition of Prior Learning

Previous studies or employment experience can be acknowledged as credit towards online postgraduate studies, provided that it meets the relevant course requirements. If a UTS offer of enrolment is accepted, and previous studies at another institution have been undertaken, students may be eligible to apply for recognition of prior learning.


Fees

The fee for the Graduate Certificate in Public Health is $3,467 per subject, with FEE-HELP available for eligible students.


Duration and Intakes

The course duration is 8 months (minimum), with intakes in January, March, May, July, August, and October.
