Master of Quantitative Finance
The UTS postgraduate Quantitative Finance program is recognised in Australia and overseas as a leading qualification for aspiring and established quantitative finance professionals. Quantitative finance professionals are highly trained experts who use mathematical modelling and statistical methods to analyse risk and advise investors or financial institutions on the best paths forward.
Course Description
This course is tailored for both aspiring and established quantitative finance professionals seeking to navigate the evolving financial landscape marked by accelerated financial innovation, the emergence of new risks, and major regulatory changes. Through this course, you will obtain core competencies in financial instruments, derivative securities, quantitative risk management, quantitative portfolio analysis and interest rate and credit risk modelling, underpinned by a strong foundation in probability theory, stochastic analysis, financial econometrics, and numerical and computational methods.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, in mathematical sciences, mathematical finance, insurance and actuarial studies, or a related field of study with a substantial quantitative component.
- English language requirements: IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0; TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21; UTS College AE5: Pass; Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50; Cambridge C1A/C2P: overall 176, writing 169.
Course Structure
The course is normally completed in one year of full-time study or three years of part-time study. You must possess a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent workplace experience to enrol in this program. As a student, you'll undertake a total of nine core Quantitative Finance subjects, giving you a thorough understanding of the various roles, responsibilities, perspectives and processes of this profession.
