Introduction to the Lucy Mentoring Program
The Lucy Mentoring Program is an initiative that connects women and gender diverse people studying engineering or technology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to industry professionals for one-on-one mentoring.
Program Overview
This mentoring opportunity is open to all cis- and trans- women and gender diverse people studying undergraduate degrees or Masters by Coursework at UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT. The program aims to help students build career confidence, industry networks and knowledge, increase motivation to study and pursue a career in engineering or IT, and get access to role models.

History of the Program
The Lucy Mentoring Program began in 2010 at UTS with 12 students and has been delivered every year by Women in Engineering and IT. In 2024, the program paired 133 students with industry mentors.
Program Structure
The program is a two-way learning journey, where mentees and mentors work together on career development, widen professional circles, and identify role models.
Example of Success
Mentee Phuong Linh Vi and mentor Keith Middleton are an excellent example of what the Lucy Mentoring program aims to accomplish: work on career development, widen professional circles, and identify role models.
