Program Overview


Introduction to the University Program

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) offers a range of programs for students, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and research degrees. The university is committed to providing high-quality education and research opportunities for its students.


Research Program

The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at UTS offers a research program for students interested in health economics. The program focuses on economic evidence and decision-making, micro-econometric analysis of the behavior of health care consumers, providers, and funders, quality of life analysis, and analysis of health care programs and policies using discrete choice experiments.


Research Areas

CHERE seeks students interested in undertaking research in the following areas:

Student Support

Students will be supervised and supported by CHERE staff and/or associates. CHERE may provide financial assistance in the form of top-up scholarships to suitably qualified applicants.


Seminars and Training

Students will participate in weekly seminars in health economics and health services research. They will also be supported to present their research at external workshops and conferences. Additionally, students will have access to health economics training via the NSW Health Economics Consortium, a collaboration across four Sydney-based universities.


Career Opportunities

The program provides students with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers in health economics, including roles in government, private industry, and research institutions. Students will also have the opportunity to network with professionals in the field and gain practical experience through research projects and internships.
