The Certification Short Course is designed for building professionals wishing to become registered certifiers or renew their registration. This course explores how certification fits within NSW planning and development assessment systems.

Course Content

The course covers the key requirements of a certifier, including:

• Paperwork, records, and reports
• Responsibilities surrounding customers and the community
• Legal compliance and enforcement

Cost

The cost of the course is $3,089 (GST free).

Assessments

This certification short course involves a package of three assessments, including:

• Attendance (generally 100% of the course except for the most pressing reasons)
• Satisfactory participation in small-group activities
• Three written assignments

The course is delivered online via a live video link (Zoom) or face-to-face at UTS City Campus.

About the Presenters

• Danny Wiggins: A town planning consultant with 30 years of experience, specializing in statutory planning systems and local planning controls.
• Tim Stenning: A Grade A1 Accredited Certifier under the Building Professionals Board Accreditation Scheme with over 18 years of experience as a Building Surveyor and Accredited Certifier.
• Robert Marinelli: A building regulation and fire safety consultant with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Stephen Krimmer: A senior planner with expertise in planning, sustainability, and development assessment.
• Joshua Palmer: A lawyer with extensive experience in local government and planning and environmental law.

Building Commission NSW

The course has been approved by Building Commission NSW as a prerequisite to apply for registration as a Registered Certifier.
