Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Renewable Energy)

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Renewable Energy) is a comprehensive program designed for aspiring professional engineers seeking to design, create, manage, and improve complex engineering systems using cutting-edge technologies. This course is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.


Course Description

This course is designed for students who seek to transition society to clean and sustainable energy solutions for a carbon-neutral future. Students will discover the latest technology and learn the fundamentals of energy-efficient systems, battery storage, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, and other emerging technologies.


Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.
  • Eligibility for admission does not guarantee an offer of a place.

    • IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0
    • TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21

Assumed Knowledge

  • HSC Mathematics Extension 1
  • Physics
  • English Standard
  • English Advanced is recommended
  • For the Biomedical, Chemical Process, Civil, and Civil and Environmental Engineering majors, Chemistry is recommended
  • For the Software Engineering major, a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of programming is recommended

Professional Recognition

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), majoring in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Data Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Flexible Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or Software Engineering is fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer and is recognised internationally by signatories to the Washington Accord. Chemical Processing Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering are provisionally accredited with Engineers Australia, pending full accreditation.


Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed equivalent subjects at a recognised tertiary education institution may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if the subjects completed are deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to subjects in the course.

The course is offered on a four-year, full-time basis or eight years, part-time.
