Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Industry Practice (Civil)

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Industry Practice (Civil) is a five-year full-time program that combines academic study with hands-on skills. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, construct, and manage physical and built environments, with a focus on environmental impact, transport, waste, and sustainability.


Program Description

The program is split into three distinct stages of study: fundamentals of civil engineering, the application of civil engineering practices, and the professional application of civil engineering practice to oversee project success. Students will have the option to specialize in sub-majors, including Construction, Structures, Extended Civil Engineering, Geotechnical, Transport, and Water Resources Engineering.


Admission Requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Eligibility for admission does not guarantee an offer of a place.


Course Fees

The indicative total tuition fee for government-supported domestic students is $50,130.00. Fees are reviewed annually and may change.

Our classes are held at our City Campus, or specialist off-campus locations. Some of our courses are delivered via online (distance) learning.

The program consists of:


  • 8 core Engineering subjects
  • 20 Civil Engineering major subjects
  • 4 elective subjects
  • 1 Industry Practice Diploma
  • 1 x 2 x 24 weeks internship

Industry Accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Industry Practice in Civil Engineering is accredited by Engineers Australia. The degree is recognized internationally by signatories to the Washington Accord.

Assumed Knowledge

HSC Mathematics Extension 1; Physics; and English Standard. English Advanced is recommended. For the Biomedical, Chemical Process, Civil, and Civil and Environmental Engineering majors, Chemistry is recommended. For the Software Engineering major, a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of programming is recommended.


Professional Recognition

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Data Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Flexible Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or Software Engineering is fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer and is recognized internationally by signatories to the Washington Accord.


Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed equivalent subjects at a recognized tertiary education institution may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if the subjects completed are deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to subjects in the course.


Important Notes

The MAJ03549 Renewable Energy Engineering major within this course is not available for intake in Autumn 2026.
