Bachelor of Forensic Science Bachelor of International Studies

The Bachelor of Forensic Science Bachelor of International Studies prepares students for professional and specialist work in the discipline of forensic science. This course aims to produce professional forensic scientists with highly adaptable scientific skills, accompanied by a thorough grounding in theory and practice.


Course Description

As the first forensic science degree in Australia, the world-class UTS Bachelor of Forensic Science is recognised for producing future leaders in this compelling field of practice. More than just a theoretical science degree, this course delivers a comprehensive learning experience at the intersection of STEM, information technology, law, criminology, and social impact coupled with specialist expertise in a choice of four in-demand forensic science disciplines: biology, chemistry, crime scene investigation, and digital forensic science.


Course Structure

Students must complete 240 credit points of study made up of:


  • 48 credit points of core subjects
  • A 72-credit-point major choice
  • 24 credit points of electives
  • 96 credit points of International Studies subjects

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.


Course Fees

The indicative total tuition fee for government-supported domestic students is $91,455.00. This does not include additional costs such as the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.


Duration and Intake

This course is offered on a five-year, full-time basis. The Autumn Session 2025 intake is available, with specific dates to consider when applying for the course.

Location

Classes are held at the City Campus or specialist off-campus locations, with some courses delivered via online (distance) learning.


International Studies

In the International Studies component, students select one of six languages (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish) and one of the following three pathways: Language, Culture & the Professional World, Language; Culture & Global Exchange; and International Honours.
