  • Provides a digital gift card that can be used at participating businesses
  • Supports the local economy by encouraging residents to shop at local businesses
  • Has been successful in redistributing over $80,000 to the local community since its establishment in 2020

Digital Solution

UTS Rapido, a research innovation hub, has developed a digital solution to replace the manual processes used to administer the CHEX community card. The digital solution:

  • Uses a QR code to distribute the gift card
  • Tracks how much is being spent at participating businesses
  • Provides a back-end system for businesses to check QR code validity and see how much they are owed
  • Has the potential to double or triple the number of businesses signing up to the program in the next six months
  • Is expected to save 400 volunteer hours in the first year

Project Lead

The project lead for the digital solution is Raj Calisa, Principal Delivery Manager at UTS Rapido.
