Introduction to Sun Yat-sen University
Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) has an educational tradition spanning over 100 years. As a university directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China, SYSU has become a first-class modern comprehensive university, renowned both in China and in the world.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the master's program at SYSU, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports.
- Be in good health and meet the physical standards required for applying for a student visa or residence permit.
- Hold a bachelor's degree equivalent to that of Chinese universities.
- Be friendly to China, hardworking, and diligent in their studies with excellent academic performance.
- Have no records of violations of the rules and regulations of their school or any other security penalties or criminal records.
Language Proficiency
Applicants must meet the language proficiency requirements:
- For Chinese-taught programs: HSK (level V) certificate with 180 points or above.
- For English-taught programs: TOEFL iBT transcripts (79 points or above) or IELTS (6.5 points and above).
Application Procedure
The application procedure involves the following steps:
- Register and log in to the International Student Management System.
- Fill in the information accurately and completely as required.
- Upload the required supporting documents, including:
- Valid passport and personal profile photo.
- Diploma, certificates, and verification reports of bachelor's degree.
- Complete transcripts of undergraduate studies.
- Chinese language proficiency certificate (for Chinese-taught programs).
- English language proficiency certificate (for English-taught programs).
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Plan of study and research in China.
- Proof of financial status.
- Physical examination and blood test results.
- Certificate of Non-Criminal Record.
- Scholarship application form (if applicable).

Selection Procedures
The selection procedures involve:
- Qualification review: SYSU reviews the applicant's foreign status, highest academic qualification, academic performance, language proficiency, recommendations, and study plan.
- Assessment: Admission teams of each school/department organize interviews and/or written tests.
- Admission: SYSU selects applicants based on their qualifications and interview assessment results.
Fees
The tuition fees and registration fees for master's programs at SYSU are as follows:
- Tuition Fee: RMB 30,000 - 90,000 per academic year.
- Registration Fee: RMB 400 per person.
Scholarship

Regulations about Accommodation and Insurance
- Self-funded students should handle accommodation by themselves.
- Scholarship recipients will be provided on-campus accommodation according to relevant regulations.
- International students must insure themselves in accordance with the relevant regulations of China and SYSU.
Supervision
Admitted students must complete registration procedures according to the registration date and location required in the Admission Letter. Applicants who have fabricated materials to obtain admissions will have their admission qualifications and student status canceled by SYSU.
